It's time to impeach Donald J. Trump. Here's why...

January 29, 2017

It’s not just that I hate guys like Donald Trump - pompous, narcissistic, self-aggrandizing imbeciles - even if he wasn’t such a bastard I’d still be writing this post. He’s already made a royal mess of things after one week and it’s time to cut bait.

While it’s tempting to call this the most epic fuck-up in America’s history, I think Hiroshima and Nagasaki take that distinction. Sad news is, we’re not too far from a tragedy of that scale again with this man in the oval office.

A Angular2 front-end for the Meatbars application

July 29, 2016

In my last post I demonstrated using Docker, Silex, NGINX, MySQL and PHPUnit to create a backend service with a RESTful JSON API. In this post, I’ll demonstrate adding a really simple Angular2 front end to display the data as rendered by the API.

Justy like the last post, all of the code for this example is available in the public Git repo here. I’ll be speaking about the code available in the app/angular/ directory specifically.

A RESTful API with Docker, NGINX, Silex, MySQL and PHPUnit

July 18, 2016

Here’s a quick and easy way to cook up a RESTful API using Docker, NGINX, Silex, MySQL and PHPUnit. It’s exceptionally lightweight - and it’s underdeveloped (intentionally.)

I’ve included some general description of the application’s most critical features - and of course I’ve added the source for your perusal.

I recall standing on Observatory Hill that first night and saying to myself "How on Earth did I get here?"

Programmer & Developer

I consider myself a fairly decent programmer and "Dev-ministrator". There's a side of me that it really appeals to; Precision, ingenuity and invention are rewarded in what aspires to be a true meritocracy where volunteerism, transparency and utility is the rule of the road. Here's the surprise: Most of my childhood friends ended up becoming programmers, too. Go figure. And soliloquy beyond, dear friends.

I'm a Technologist. Recently, I left a Principal Web Engineer position McGraw-Hill Education and prior to that I was at NewsCorp (HarperCollins). Right now I'm into Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment strategies using Docker, Circle and Amazon Web Services. It pays the bills, and it's pretty gratifying when things go right. People occasionally ask me for my resumé, it's here.
